for Discovery
Positioned at the center of the University of Utah's Health Sciences campus — between the hospital, the College of Nursing, and the health sciences library — the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine building is an eight-story, 211,457-square-foot home for education, research, and clinical care. A simulation center and gross anatomy lab give more than 500 medical students hands-on training alongside faculty and researchers, all under one LEED Gold-certified roof.
Made possible by a $185 million investment — including a landmark $110 million gift from the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Foundation and the Nora Eccles Treadwell Foundation supporting the building, medical education, and cardiovascular research — this building marks the most significant leap forward in the medical school's history. It anchors a health system that, as the only academic medical center in the Mountain West, provides care across nearly a tenth of the continental United States.
